Auto123.com Names Honda Odyssey and Acura MDX Best in Class for 2014

The Acura MDX and the Honda Odyssey were chosen as “Luxury Midsize Utility of the Year” and “Van of the Year” by Auto123.com. The panel cited the MDX’s blend of luxury comfort, technology and exhilarating dynamic performance in its decision, while the Odyssey impressed for a second year in a row with its exceptional fuel-economy, quality and safety.

New for 2014, the Odyssey includes a standard 6-speed automatic transmission as well as enhanced safety, styling, and revised electronic controls. Another favourite new feature is HondaVAC™, the world’s first built-in vacuum cleaner, which comes standard in the Touring trim.

The MDX was developed on an all-new platform for 2014, optimized in every respect for the needs of today’s luxury SUV buyers. Powered by a new 290-horsepower direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 powertrain with fuel-saving technology, the MDX includes Acura’s signature technologies highlighting the synergy between man and machine.

“We are dedicated to providing vehicles that meet the needs of Canadians whether they’re looking for a quality family vehicle or luxury SUV,” said Dave Jamieson, assistant vice president, Honda Canada. “The 2014 Odyssey and MDX continue to set the benchmark in each of their segments and we’re thrilled to accept this recognition from Auto123.com.”

Now in its fifth year, the Auto123.com’s annual Awards are selected by a judging panel of 10 voting journalists. Scores are cumulated in 20 categories, ranging from Compact Car of the Year to Green Vehicle of the Year.
