HONDA CANADA REPORTS MARCH SALES RESULTS

MARKHAM, ON (April 3, 2012) – Combined March sales of 13,743 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a little over 9% decrease over last year’s sales.  The Honda Automobile Division reported March sales of 12,841 units, down 7% from last year.  The Acura Division reported March sales of 902 units, down 35% over last year.

“Last year was an unusual March result due to the clear out of the previous generation Civic.  However, along with excellent Civic sales this month, we achieved record all-time monthly sales of the all-new CR-V.  The compact sport-utility vehicle features dynamic styling, increased cargo space and enhanced fuel economy as part of a “total package” approach designed to provide Canadians with best-in-class value,” said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president, Honda Canada Inc. “With CR-V now being built with the Honda Civic at our plant in Alliston, Ontario, we are proud that two of our best-selling vehicles are being built by Canadians, for Canadians.”

Honda Canada has sold approximately 3.5 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973.  Of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in March, 95% were produced at the company’s assembly plants in North America, unchanged from the same month last year.
